HAPPY WALKERS: Just prior to the official
opening ceremony, eight of the 17 members of the CB/NR/C "LION TAMERS"
who participated in the third Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life pose
for a picture, The LION TAMERS raised an amount of $1,500 in pledge.
SPECIAL PRESENTATION: Rubina Hutt,
representing the New Ross Area Recreational Complex Committee, addressed the
Chester Basin/New Ross/Chester Lions Club immediately after King Lion Art
Stevens presented her with $2,500, one half the club's $5,000 pledge to the
project.

NEW PRESIDENT: Zone Chairman Sandra
Zwicker congratulates Lion Frank Meister on being installed as president of
the Chester Basin/New Ross/ Chester Lions Club for 2008-09. Lion Frank was the
charter president when the club was formed in 1998.
INTERNATIONAL AWARD: Zone Chairman Sandra
Zwicker presented PDG Charles Uhlman, a member of the Chester Basin/New
Ross/Chester Lions Club, with an International President's Certificate of
Appreciation in recognition of distinguished achievements in fulfilling the
mission of Lions Clubs International.

WALK FOR DOG GUIDES: Kim Dowe, her special
Skills dog, Iron, and boyfriend Reg Rand joined our club for the 8th annual
walk for dog guides that raised over $3,400 for the Lions Foundation of
Canada's three dog guide programs. In front of Kim are Lion Carol Weinberg and
her granddaughter Miranda. Following are Joan Stevens and Cairn Terrier Robbie
Burns.

WHEELS TO MEALS: During the VON annual
meeting Lesley Taylor, Coordinator of Volunteer Services and Community
Support, discusses the Chester Basin wheels to meals program with Lion
President Art Stevens (left) and Chester Basin Legion representative Natalie
Forsyth and President David Miller. This VON program, jointly sponsored by
the Chester Basin/New Ross/Chester Lions Club and Everett Branch of the Royal
Canadian Legion in Chester Basin, provided meals, entertainment and
educational programs for over 375 seniors from October to May.

BANNER PATCHES: PCC Mike Gibbons
(right), Sector Coordinator, and PCST Gary Langille, District Coordinator,
presented Lion President Art with a Model Club 2006-07 banner patch as well
as a Ruby Visionary Society banner patch in recognition of the club's
$9,200(US) contribution to Campaign Sight II.

NEW MEMBER: Zone Chairman Sandra
Zwicker recently inducted Lion Leonard Stevens, the Club's 28th member. On
the right is President Art Stevens.
CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS: President Art Stevens recently presented
Lions Don Wright (left), Carol Weinberg (center) and Pauline Wright with LCIF Contribution
Member pins. Our club provides annual support for the three Lions'
Foundations.

NEW BABY LION: Lion Pauline Wright, former Baby Lion, gleefully
presented new Baby Lion Leonard Stevens with his noise maker during the
induction ceremony held recently. Sponsor. Lion Jim Barkhouse. looks very
amused by the presentation.

King Lion Art is shown
with Bonny Lea student, Sonya Joudrey, as she demonstrates the computer and
software package our club recently purchased.

MELVIN JONES FELLOWS:
During his visit to the Chester Basin/New Ross/Chester Lions Club, District
Governor Alex Hancock presented Melvin Jones Fellowships to six members of the
Club. The club contributed $(US)9,200 to Campaign Sight II, Lions three
year $(US)200 million fund raising program to help eradicate preventable and
curable blindness in the world. Front row (Left to right): Lions Sharon
Rafuse, Beatrice Meister and Debbie Stevens. Back row (Left to right): Lion
Gerald Davis, DG Alex, Lions Wayne Zwicker and Phillip Broome. Previously, as
part of this pledge, Melvin Jones Fellowships had been presented to Lions Jim
Barkhouse, Art Stevens and Sandra Zwicker.

LIFE MEMBERSHIPS: District
Governor Alex Hancock, during his official visit to the Chester Basin/New
Ross/Chester Lions Club, presented Life Memberships in the Lions Foundation of
Canada (Dog Guide School) and the Lions Foundation of Nova Scotia to four club
members. From left to right: Lions Beatrice Meister, Wayne Zwicker, Verta
Duggan and Elizabeth Heisler. Each year, in order to support these
foundations, the club makes different members Life Members of the foundations.

LFC LIFE MEMBER: KL Art Stevens
presented Wendell Seamone, Reinforced Plastics Systems, with a life membership
in the Lions Foundation of Canada in recognition of his support of the
fiberglass pipe project.

CLUB SPEAK-OUT WINNER: Lion
Sharon Rafuse presents Neal Broome, a grade nine student at New Ross
Consolidated School, with his certificate of participation, his first place
trophy and a cheque while KL Art looks on. Neal will now represent the club at
the zone speak-out to be held in Liverpool on March 31st.
